Oil Accumulation in the Spark Plug Tubes
PROBLEM
Oil is found in the spark plug tubes at normal service intervals.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the ignition wires with the improved ignition wires listed under PARTS INFORMATION. This new ignition wire set has an improved spark
plug boot design that controls the oil seepage.
NOTE:
The repair procedure in Service Bulletin 96-004, Replacement of Spark Plug Tubes, is not the accepted repair for oil accumulation in the spark plug
tubes. Follow the repair procedure outlined in this service bulletin. Any warranty claims for replacing the spark plug tubes for oil accumulation in the
tubes will be debited.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the original ignition wires. Do not remove the spark plugs.
2.
While wearing eye protection, clean the sparkplug tubes.

Spray brake cleaner inside the tube.

Cover the tube with a shop towel, and blow the brake cleaner out with compressed air.
3.
Replace the spark plugs if they are at the recommended service interval.
