Backup Lamp Switch: Testing and Inspection

1. Make a continuity test across the switch terminals with the switch installed on transmission. If tester indicates continuity only when in reverse,

switch is normal.

2. If the test result is unsatisfactory, repeat the test with the switch removed from transmission, if the tester indicates continuity across the terminals

when switch is depressed, the switch is normal (continuity should not exist when the push-rod is released).

3. If the switch is known to be in good condition, but the circuit is not functioning properly, adjust the stoke with a fitted between the transmission

housing and the switch.
