Shift Cable: Adjustments

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE 

1. Set IGN key in "LOCK" position and selector lever in "P" position.
2. Adjust cable screw cap on selector lever side to provide a gap (cable slack) of 1 - 2 mm between rod on steering lock side and stopper. 

Adjust cap as follows:

1) Pull screw cap in direction of arrow to remove slack from inner cable.
2) adjust gap between nut (A) and bracket to 5.0 mm (0.02 inch).
3) Secure cable by turning nut (B) while holding nut (A) in place.

OPERATION 

With the ignition switch ON and the shift lever in "P" you will be unable to move the shift lever out of "P" to another position unless you depress the
brake pedal. That's because a signal is sent through the park position switch to the shift lock controller, energizing the shift lock solenoid which locks
the shift lever in Park. When you depress the brake pedal, a signal is sent to the shift lock controller which then deenergizes the shift lock solenoid and
allows the shift lever to be removed
