Ring Gear: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT
1. Remove exciter ring (36) from the differential case using a mallet or a copper hammer.
NOTE: Discard the removed exciter ring.
2. Press the exciter ring on the differential case, using the ring gear as a pilot.
NOTE: Check that it is firmly pressed on the differential cage and check it for damage (dented, chipped or missing teeth).
3. Clean the ring gear threaded holes to remove the locking agent.
4. When installing the ring gear, apply LOCTITE 271 or equivalent to all the threaded area and half of the unthreaded area of the bolt.
5. Discard used bolts and install new ones.

Torque 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).
5. Tighten the attaching bolts in a diagonal sequence as illustrated.
