Pinion Seal

TOOLS REQUIRED 

-

J-8614-01: Companion Flange Holder

-

J-39602: Outer Pinion Bearing Remover

-

J-39829: Pinion Oil Seal Installer

-

Or Equivalent

REMOVE:   

1. Bolts (3) from the pinion flange (5). Mark the propeller shaft (13) and the pinion flange (5) so they can be assembled in the same position.
2. Propeller shaft (13) from the pinion flange (5):

a. Support the propeller shaft (13) out of the way.

b. Check and record preload with an inch pound torque wrench. This will give combined pinion bearing, seal, carrier bearing, axle bearing and

seal preload.
