Prelude Si Speedometer (Supersedes 88-021, dated July 15,1988)
SYMPTOM
There have been some customer comments about speedometers being too "optimistic". In other words, the speed indicated is faster then the speed at
which the vehicle is actually traveling.
NOTE:
The odometer is a mechanical fixed direct drive system, while the speedometer is an electronic instrument which requires factory calibration.
The discrepancy in the speedometer reading will not affect the odometer accuracy.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the speedometer with the new part listed under PARTS INFORMATION. See pages 23-97 to 23-99 of the '88 Prelude Service Manual for
replacement procedure.
