Camshaft: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:  Do not rotate the camshaft during inspection.

1. Remove the rocker arms and rocker shafts.

NOTE:  Rocker arms must be installed in the same position if reused.

2. Put the camshafts, camshaft holders and holder plates on the cylinder head, then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

Specified Torque: 

(1) - (20): 8 x 1.25 mm: 25 Nm (2.6 kgf.m, 19 ft. lbs.) 
(21) - (28): 6 x 1.00 mm: 12 Nm (1.2 kgf.m, 8.79 ft. lbs.) 

3. Seat the camshafts by pushing them toward the distributor end of the cylinder head.

4. Zero the dial indicator against the end of the camshaft, then push the camshaft back and forth.

Read the end play.
