No Back-Up Circuit for Trailer in Vehicle's Rear Wire Harness (Supersedes 07-022, dated April 4, 2007, to update the information marked with the
black bars and asterisks)
SYMPTOM
The trailer back-up circuit doesn't work. (This circuit is commonly used to deactivate the trailer's surge brakes when backing up.)
PROBABLE CAUSE
A back-up circuit was not included in the rear wire harnesses and/or trailer harness of early-production vehicles.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
*Thru VIN 2HJYK...6H535255:
Install a Back-up Circuit Harness Kit (REPAIR PROCEDURE A), and check the Honda trailer harness socket for the back-up circuit YEL wire. (See
DIAGNOSIS for information on how to locate the yellow wire.)

If the Honda trailer harness socket has a back-up circuit YEL wire, do REPAIR PROCEDURE A only.

If the Honda trailer harness socket does not have a back-up circuit YEL wire, install a Back-up Circuit Harness Kit (REPAIR PROCEDURE A) and
a Trailer Harness Socket Assembly (REPAIR PROCEDURE B).
