POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURE (SHOP MANUAL ADDITION)
DESCRIPTION:
The 1996 Accent Shop Manual does not contain procedures for removal and installation of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Please include these
procedures by writing down the TSB number on the appropriate pages in your Shop Manual for future reference.
REMOVAL PROCEDURES:
1.
Record the customer's radio stations and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Locate the Transaxle Control Module (TCM) under the dashboard near the brake pedal. The TCM must be moved to the side to allow faster
access to the PCM mounting bolts.
3.
Remove two (2) 10 mm bolts from the TCM bracket against the firewall and rotate it to the right and out of the way.
4.
Disconnect the harness from the PCM and remove two (2) 12 mm bolts.
5.
Slide the PCM unit out from its base bracket.
6.
Remove the computer mounting bracket from the PCM.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
1.
Reinstall the mounting bracket to the PCM.
2.
Reinstall the PCM and its mounting bracket to the base bracket with the two (2) 12 mm bolts.
3.
Reconnect the harness to the PCM.
4.
Reinstall the TCM with the two (2) 10 mm bolts.
5.
Reconnect the negative battery cable and reset the customer's radio stations and clock.
