CLIMATE CONTROL OPERATION
DESCRIPTION:
The revised system operation of the DEFROST and DEFROST/FLOOR modes for 311 2000 models is included in table 1. This information supersedes
the information published in the owners manual of each vehicle.
SYSTEM INFORMATION:
When the DEFROST mode is selected (also defrost/floor mode on some models), the air conditioning system (and the LED indicator on the "A/C"
switch) is switched ON, regardless or whether the "A/C" button is switched ON or OFF. The A/C compressor operates to dehumidify (dry) the air and
rapidly reduce windshield fogging. The temperature control selector should be set at a comfortable temperature for the occupants.
For the Elantra and Tiburon, the Fresh Air / Recirculation mode control is also controlled by the DEFROST and DEFROST/FLOOR mode control.
When DEFROST or DEFROST/FLOOR mode is selected, the Fresh Air / Recirculation mode control switches to Fresh Air (regardless of switch
position) and remains there until the directional mode control is FACE, FACE-FEET, or FEET mode.
NOTE 1.
Elantras and Tiburons produced before November 11,1999 are equipped with a system that requires manually selecting the "A/C" for additional
dehumidifying action. Additionally, the fresh air / recirculation mode can be controlled in all of the air direction modes.
