A/C - Suction Hose Refrigerant Leaks

REFRIGERANT LEAKS (SUCTION HOSE)

Improper assembly procedures may result in air conditioning refrigerant leaks at the compressor end of the suction hose. The following procedure should
be followed during suction hose installation:

1.

Install the suction hose before the discharge hose.

2.

Attach the suction hose to the evaporator finger tight.

3.

Attach the suction hose to the compressor finger tight.

4.

While holding the suction hose parallel to the compressor tighten the nut to 22-28 ft. lbs. If the suction hose is not held parallel to the compressor,
it may work loose due to engine rocking and vibration resulting in loss of refrigerant.

5.

Use two wrenches to tighten the evaporator end of the suction hose to 22-28 ft. lbs.
