Remove the cover retainer. Then use pliers to remove the case rear cover.

After removing the idle shaft lock plate, use special tool (09453-21400) to attach a dial indicator to the transaxle case.

When checking the end play use pliers to pull and push the transfer shaft (being careful not to damage the shaft). Read and record the scale when
the shaft is pushed furthest inward and pulled furthest outward.

If the transfer shaft end play does not meet the specification shown in Table 1, the spacer should be replaced with a spacer of suitable thickness.
