J39463 AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE COOLER FLUSHER INSTRUCTIONS
This TSB updates 92-40-003 to include all regions and updated procedures.
The J39463 is used to remove contaminants from transaxle coolers and cooler pipes which may be present due to a transaxle malfunction or damage. The
flusher will connect to all Hyundai vehicles. It utilizes the flow of tap water combined with Kent-Moore flushing fluid (see below) and shop air to lift and
force metal chips or clutch material out of the cooler and lines so it will not be introduced into the replaced or repaired transaxle.
UNIQUE FEATURES:
Regular shop air. as high as 120 PSI, used intermittently throughout the procedure creates a surge of water/cleaner through the system to dislodge foreign
materials
OTHER FEATURES:
^
Chrome-plated brass tank.
^
Check valves to protect air and water supply.
^
Discharge hose assembly.
^
On-off valves for air and water flow.
^
One gallon of J35944-20 flushing fluid (enough for approximately six flushing operations).
^
Complete operating instructions.
COOLER FLUSHING FLUID:
The flushing fluid is a concentrated blend of detergents which cut transaxle fluid to lift contaminants, along with silicates to aid in rinsing and protecting
soft metals, such as brass and aluminum. Each flushing operation requires 21 ounces of fluid. Flushing fluid is supplied in one gallon plastic bottles
(J35944-20) or 6 gallon containers - J35944-CSE
CAUTION:
J35944-20 flushing fluid in its concentrated form can be corrosive to car paint, shop equipment, etc. Please exercise extreme caution when working
with this solution.
WARNING!
To prevent injury to face and eyes, always wear safety glasses or a face shield when using the transaxle flusher. Eye and skin contact, flush with
water immediately.
NOTE:
Pull trigger to ensure orifice if not clogged and fluid is dispensing properly before proceeding.
NOTE:
The following procedures should be performed before reinstalling the transaxle.
1.
Check the tool and hoses for wear or cracks before using. If found, replace before using.
2.
Using the measuring cup, fill the tank with 21 ounces (approximately 21
/3 full) of J35944-20 biodegradable flushing fluid. Do not substitute any other fluid. Follow the handling procedure on the fluid container.
3.
Secure the filler cap and pressurize the tank with shop air between 80-120 PSI.
