TITLE: 2.4L CRANKSHAFT DAMPER MOUNTING BOLT: TORQUE SPECIFICATION CHANGE

SERVICE TIP:
The torque specification for the 2.4L engine crankshaft damper mounting bolt in Santa Fe and Sonata vehicles has changed.
The new torque specification is:
116-123 lb-ft (157-167 N-m)
Please correct the 1999-later Sonata Shop Manuals and all Santa Fe Shop Manuals.
2.4L engines built on or after May 28, 2002 are torqued to the new value from the factory. Engines built prior to May 28, 2002 can be torqued to the
new value without replacing* the bolt. The part number did not change (P/N 23127-38000).
* = Before re-using a crankshaft damper mounting bolt, inspect the bolt for pitting, corrosion and damaged threads. Replace the bolt if there is any
question to the condition of the bolt.
