Subject
2001 SANTA FE FRONT DOOR WIND NOISE RELATED TO OUTSIDE BELT MOLDING FIT
DESCRIPTION:
Some 2001 Santa Fe vehicles may experience a high pitched wind noise sound when driven at 25 mph or higher speeds. The noise may be described as
coming from the front window glass area near the outside rear view mirrors.
This wind noise condition may be caused by a loose or distorted front door outside belt molding, and it may also be intermittent and dependent on
vehicle speed and ambient temperature.
This bulletin provides procedures to verify the wind noise condition and, if necessary, to replace the outside belt molding.
ANALYSIS:
1.
Test drive the vehicle to verify the wind noise.
2.
Use masking tape or duct tape to completely cover the door belt molding.
3.
Test drive the vehicle with the molding covered. If the wind noise disappears, replace the belt molding.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1.
Open the affected door and lower the window glass.
