Subject: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM ECU RESETTING PROCEDURE

This TSB supersedes TSB# 06-90-017 to include the GDS illustrations

DESCRIPTION:
Occupant Classification System is designed to detect a properly-seated right front occupant and determine if the passenger's frontal airbag should be
enabled (may inflate) or not. The system continuously monitors the occupant status and can change the classification decision if there is a change in
occupant status.

This bulletin provides the procedure to reset the system's electronic control unit (referred to as "PODS ECU" on the GDS display screen) using the GDS
tool. The PODS ECU (which is different from the main SRS Control Module) needs to be reset under the two conditions noted below:

1. To erase diagnostic codes relating to the PODS ECU.

2. To reset the PODS ECU after replacing the front passenger seat cover or seat cushion assembly.

NOTE:

Failure to perform the "PODS RESET" procedure before erasing the SRS Control Module code(s) can activate the SRS diagnostic code B1489
(PODS ECU Failure).

NOTE: 

The PODS ECU must be reset after the front passenger seat cushion assembly is replaced.

NOTE:

Refer to the Owner's Manual section "Occupant Classification System" or the Service Shop Manual, under the Restraints Section, for details
regarding the PODS ECU and diagnosis.
