A/T - Engine Speed Increase/Harshness On Initial Start
Group: TRANSAXLE
Number: 93-40-017
Date: OCTOBER, 1993
Model: ALL
Subject:
SLIGHT ENGINE RPM INCREASE AND MINOR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ENGAGEMENT HARSHNESS UPON INITIAL START
CONDITION:
The KM 176-5, KM 175-5, 6 and KM 177-8 automatic transaxles may experience a slight engine RPM increase for 4-6 seconds and minor engagement
harshness when shifting into gear after long parking periods, such as when starting in the morning. The MUT test will indicate no trouble code.
CAUSE:
KM 175-5, 6 and KM 176-5: The o-ring may become damaged during the insertion of the reaction shaft to the reaction shaft support in the oil pump
assembly.
KM 177-8: Although there is no o-ring, coarse machining of the reaction shaft and the reaction shaft support may cause this condition.
CORRECTION:
Replace the oil pump assembly.
