Subject:
REAR SHOCK ABSORBER NOISE
CONDITION:
During cold weather, a metallic groan noise may be heard from the rear suspension area while jouncing the vehicle up and down or driving over bumps
at low speeds (under 30 mph). If this noise is found to originate in the rear shock absorbers, the condition may be corrected by replacing the rear shock
absorbers with new shock absorbers as listed in the parts information chart shown.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1.
Verify that the noise is not caused by a loose spare tire, jack, or some other object in the trunk.
2.
Verify that all rear suspension mounting bolts and rear shock absorber mounting bolts are tight.
3.
If these steps do not correct the groan noise, replace both rear shock absorbers.
