Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.

2.

Remove stabilizer bar bracket from crossmember, then lower rear portion of center member and remove stabilizer bar.

3.

Remove stabilizer link and clip ring, Fig. 10.

4.

Remove dust cover, then apply suitable grease to ball joint.

5.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Check all parts for damage or wear.
b. Measure ball joint starting torque. Torque should be 4-13 ft. lbs.
c. If torque exceeds limit, replace stabilizer link.
d. Face marked part of stabilizer bar downward, then attach stabilizer bracket so end of mark is aligned with end of bushing.
e. Tighten self-locking attaching nut on stabilizer link to 0.2-0.3 inch.
