AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL DRAIN PLUG
DESCRIPTION:
Transaxles installed on the referenced models above do not have an oil drain plug on the transaxle oil pan. It is necessary to remove the oil drain plug on
the transaxle case to change the ATF.
OIL DRAIN PROCEDURE:
1.
Remove the plastic splash shield under the transaxle.
2.
Remove the oil drain plug and drain the ATF.
3.
Install a new gasket and reinstall the drain plug.
4.
Add approximately four quarts of Hyundai SPIII ATF.
NOTE:
Use only Hyundai SPIII ATF P/N 00230-11000. Using Dexron, Mercon or Chrysler ATF+3 may impair the shift quality or cause erratic shifting.
5.
Drive the vehicle until the ATF is at normal operating temperature (158-212°C or 70-100°C).
6.
Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
7.
Move the shift lever through each gear, then to "Neutral" (do not check ATF level in the "Park" position as this may result in an incorrect reading).
If necessary, add SPIII ATF to bring the level within the "HOT" range.
