CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT - ELANTRA AND TIBURON
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin describes the steps necessary to add or replace the cabin air filter for the Elantra and Tiburon. The cabin air filter is a replaceable paper
element filter that removes particulates such as dust from the air. The cabin air filter for these vehicles is located in a slot above the blower motor. It is
accessed by lowering the glove box (see the installation/replacement procedure below).
TSB 03-97-003, Cabin Air Filter Application Chart, provides part numbers, factory installed applications and vehicles in which a cabin air filter may be
installed if they were not equipped with one during production. Information is provided for all Hyundai models. The air filter part number for the Elantra
and Tiburon is P/N 97133-2D000. The typical service interval is 12,000 miles or 1 year, whichever occurs first. More frequent maintenance may be
required in very dusty environments which may clog the filter. A major benefit (if installed) is that it reduces the possibility that mold and mildew may
accumulate on the evaporator. Particulate debris becomes trapped in the replaceable filter and is removed from the system during routine maintenance.
Unwanted odors may also be remedied by replacing the air filter.
NOTE
Installation/Replacement of the cabin air filter is considered a maintenance item and not covered under warranty.
