BRAKE PEDAL

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove instrument lower panel LH.  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Exploded

View.

2. Remove steering column assembly.  See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Steering Column/Without

Electric Motor/Exploded View(without electric motor), See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Steering
Column/With Electric Motor/Exploded View (with electric motor).

3. Disconnect the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch harness connectors.
4. Disconnect the brake pedal stroke sensor harness connector (with pre-crash seat belt).

CAUTION:
Never removing brake pedal stroke sensor (with pre-crash seat belt).
5. Turn the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch counterclockwise to remove the stop lamp switch and
ASCD brake switch.
6. Remove snap pin and clevis pin from clevis of brake booster.
7. Remove cowl top cover.  See: Body and Frame/Cowl/Cowl Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Exploded View.
8. Remove instrument panel assembly.  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Exploded

View.

9. Slide the steering member rearward.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Heater Core/Service and Repair/Exploded View.

10. Remove brake pedal assembly.

INSTALLATION
Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.
-

Apply the multi-purpose grease to the clevis pin and the mating faces. (Not necessary if grease has been already applied)

NOTE:
The clevis pin may be inserted in either direction.
