Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

OIL SEAL

REAR OIL SEAL : Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove transmission assembly.   (2WD models) or See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/7AT RE7R01A/Transmission Assembly/Exploded View (AWD models).

2. Remove drive plate.  See: Cylinder Block Assembly/Service and Repair/Exploded View.
3. Remove rear oil seal with a suitable tool.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to damage crankshaft and cylinder block.

INSTALLATION
1. Install rear oil seal.

Install rear oil seal so that each seal lip is oriented as shown in the figure.

A : Oil seal lip
B : Dust seal lip
White arrow : Engine inside
Black arrow : Engine outside

Press in rear oil seal (1) to the position as shown in the figure.

B : Cylinder block rear end face
a : 0 - 0.5 mm (0 - 0.020 in)
