Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Removal & Installation

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect tie rod outer sockets from steering knuckles with suitable tool.

2.

Remove high and low pressure line connectors.

3.

Remove exhaust front pipe.

4.

Remove steering column lower universal joint.

5.

Remove steering rack mounting brackets and bolts.

6.

Support transmission housing with a suitable jack.

7.

Remove center member with rear engine mount bracket.

8.

Remove steering gear assembly.

9.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque to specifications.
b. Do not overtighten high and low pressure lines.
c. Bleed hydraulic steering system.
d. Check front wheel alignment.
