Brake Pedal Switch - Revised Specification - Installation Procedure

Issue:
From VIN L06314 a revised brake switch has been used in production. In the event of replacement being required on earlier vehicles, install the revised
brake switch. Due to a modification that allows greater travel of the plunger, the appropriate installation procedure, as described below, should be
followed.

Action:
The following procedures apply:

VEHICLES UP TO VIN L06313

If the Brake Switch (Grey Casing) is faulty, it is necessary to replace the switch with latest specification switch as described below.

If the Cruise Control De-activation Switch (Blue Casing) is faulty, it is necessary to replace the switch (no change in specification) along with a
replacement latest specification brake switch, as described below.

VEHICLES FROM VIN L06313

It is only necessary to replace the faulty switch, but the new installation procedure must be followed.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1.

Remove the faulty switch (or both switches in case the Cruise Control De-activation Switch is faulty on vehicles prior to VIN L06313).

2.

Press the brake pedal downwards as far as possible and hold it in this position. The Jaguar Brake Pedal Holding Tool JDS 9013, part of the Jaguar
Special Equipment, Brake System Power Hydraulic Test kit, may be used for this purpose. Similar proprietary tools are also available from other
suppliers.

3.

Install the new switch(es) with the pedal held in the down position.

4.

Unlock the safety catch(es) on the switch(es) by rotating the tag on the rear of the switch(es).

5.

Release the brake pedal and allow the brake pedal to come to rest. As this occurs, the switch plunger(s) will ratchet inwards.

6.

Pull the brake pedal carefully upwards until one click is heard to come from the brake switch, then release the pedal.

7.

Check for correct operation of the switch(es).
