Camshaft: Service and Repair

Removal 

Intake Camshaft 

1. NOTE:  Left-hand bank shown, right-hand similar.

Remove the timing cover. For additional information, refer to Timing Components.

2. Remove the VVT unit from the left-hand bank. For additional information refer to Timing Components.
3. Remove the camshaft.

1. Remove the bolts that secure the camshafts caps, loosen them evenly, in stages.
2. Remove the camshaft caps. Note their orientation and markings - each is marked with its position (a number) and orientation (an arrow).
3. Remove the camshaft from the engine.
