Issue:
A concern has been identified on a small number of 2005 MY S-TYPE vehicles. The fuel tank filler cap seal is soft and does not provide an adequate or
durable seal, resulting in fuel vapor escaping and illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument panel.
As a result, the fuel filler cap seal must be replaced with an improved seal.
A number of vehicles have been repaired at the Port of Entry facility. This Service Action affects vehicles that are outside of the control of the Port of
Entry facilities and any sold vehicles that have not yet been repaired.
Action:
Perform this repair on the following 2005 S-TYPE vehicles:
At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, please ensure that any outstanding Field Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts
are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
PROCEDURE
1.
Open fuel filler flap.
2.
Unscrew fuel filler cap.
3.
Remove seal using a suitable pick.
