Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Throttle Position Sensor

The TP sensor comprises of a potentiometer with a pointer that is rotated by the throttle shaft. The ECM supplies the potentiometer with a nominal 5
volts
. The signal output from the TP sensor to the ECM depends on the position of the pointer and ultimately the position of the throttle shaft. The
sensor's position in relation to the shaft cannot be adjusted and the ECM compensates for wear and aging in service.
