MIL Illuminated/DTC P0606 - Shift Quality/Driveability Issues - ZF 6HP24 - Reprogram TCM
Issue:
Owners of some 2003 MY S-TYPE vehicles, within the above VIN range, may experience the following issues:

Transmission Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminating and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0606 logged.
^
Transmission hesitating and then thumping into gear from 2 - 1.
^
Transmission judder in second gear.
To eliminate these issues, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) should be reprogrammed using the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) with
software release JTP 759/23 or later.
Action:
In case of a verified customer complaint of the above issues on a 2003 MY S-TYPE within the above VIN range, reprogram the Transmission Control
Module (TCM) using the WDS with software release JTP 759/23 or later.
REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
Note:
Ensure WDS is loaded with software release JTP 759/23 or later.
1.
Position WDS alongside vehicle, switch Portable Test Unit (PTU) 'ON' and allow software to load.
2.
Connect PTU to the vehicle's DLC using the diagnostic cable.
3.
Enter VIN and navigate to configuration main menu.
4.
Select and run 're-configure existing TCM' application.
5.
After re-configuration of TCM is complete, switch 'OFF' PTU, disconnect from vehicle and return WDS to original location.

This will result in payment of the stated time and, where applicable parts/miscellaneous expense codes as listed.
