KEY POINTS:

FUEL TANK MODIFICATION

When replacing the fuel tank on XJ6 3.6 vehicles, two fuel tanks are available. The selection of the proper fuel tank depends on the Vehicle
Identification Number of the vehicle.

For vehicles built prior to VIN 538526, fuel tank CBC 6445/1 should be used as a replacement. For vehicles built after VIN 538525, use fuel tank CBC
7243/1.

Beginning with VIN 538526, the 2 PSI pressure/vacuum valve has been relocated to the charcoal canister area and is not included as part of fuel tank
CBC 7243/1.

NOTE:

On vehicles prior to VIN 538526, check to see if the service fix Purge Kit (JLM 1576) has been installed previously (refer to Technical
Service Bulletin, Section 19, No. 6). If it has been, install fuel tank CBC 7243/1. If the kit has not been installed, use fuel tank CBC 6445/1.
