Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Description and Operation

Brake Pedal Position Switches

2.5L and 3.0L vehicles

If the brake pedal is operated when the speed control system is active, the ECM will receive a signal from the brake pedal position primary and
secondary switches. This will put the system into STANDBY mode and allow the vehicle to return to a speed demanded by the throttle pedal position.
The brake pedal position primary switch is also used to operate the stop lamps.
