Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Construction
Cam position sensor (CMP) provides one signal every 720° of crankshaft rotation indicating #1A cylinder is at TDC prior to the firing stroke. This
signal, in conjunction with the crankshaft position sensor signal, is used by the ECM to control fuel injection and ignition duration and synchronization.
