Brake Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Pressure Warning Switch

NOTE: Read the notes relating to the ABS system bleed procedure before commencing this operation.

REMOVE

1. Discharge the hydraulic accumulator by operating the brake pedal approximately 20 times, until the pedal goes hard.

2. Open the hood and disconnect the pressure warning switch multi plug.
3. Place suitable absorbent material around the switch area to catch any spilt fluid.

4. Slacken off and remove the switch complete with O-ring.

REFIT

1. Fit the pressure warning switch/O-ring assembly to the pump.

NOTE:  The correct switch for the XJ6 has a blue connector.

2. Reconnect the multi plug.
3. Bleed the ABS hydraulic system.
4. Clean the working area.
5. Fit and tighten the filler cap.
