WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT
The XJ6 Repair Operation Manual supplement No. 1, Book 14, P/N AKM-9006-14 contains Operations 76.81.01 and 76.81.11 - Remove and Refit
Windshield.
The following is the only approved procedure. If the work is sublet to a glass shop, they should be made aware of the installation method.
MATERIALS
Essex Urethane E Safety System (product No. 16420) 2 BAC 3213 Support Blocks
1 BAC 3643 Plastic Finisher (Outer-to-Body)
1 BAC 4794 Plastic Finisher (Inner-to-Glass)
Length of Piano Wire
NOTE:

PROCEDURE FOR REMOVAL
1.
Remove windshield wiper arms and blades.
2.
Mask the painted area around windshield and the top of the interior crash rail to prevent damage.
3.
Remove the exterior inner and outer black plastic finisher. (Fig.1)
4.
Remove the stainless steel trim corner pieces.
5.
Remove the interior rubber finisher down to the crash rail on each side.
