1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Empty fuel tank into explosion proof container using suitable fireproof equipment.
3. Remove luggage compartment floor carpet.
4. Remove luggage compartment floor liner.
5. Disconnect fuel tank electrical connectors.
6. Using tool ring remover tool No. 18G-0.001, or equivalent, remove fuel gauge tank unit securing ring, Fig. 1.
7. Remove fuel gauge from tank.
8. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:

a. Ensure new sealing gasket and locking ring is installed when a replacement fuel gauge tank unit is installed.
b. When connecting fuel gauge electrical connector, top terminal is positive voltage, center terminal is ground, and bottom terminal is the

warning lamp and should be blanked off with an insulation cover to prevent incorrect connection, Fig. 2.
