VIN

ISSUE:
Intermittent illumination of the ANTI-LOCK MIL (ABS system warning light) or illumination of the ANTI-LOCK MIL with DTC P0500.
The rear wheel speed sensor harnesses on 1995 MY Sedan Range vehicles from VIN 720001-721621 may be pulled tight, straining the harness or
sensor. This condition may cause intermittent illumination of the ANTI-LOCK MIL with or without DTC P0500.
New rear wheel sensors were introduced in production at VIN 721622.
ACTION:
If the ANTI-LOCK MIL is illuminated intermittently or illuminates with DTC P0500, perform the following procedure.
ABS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT MIL ILLUMINATION - DIAGNOSTIC/REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Use PDU to extract any DTCs from the anti-lock braking/traction control, control module (ABS / TCM CM).
2.
If DTCs other than P0500 are logged, diagnose and repair the system using PDU, the Vehicle Service Manual Section 12, and the Electrical
Diagnostic Manual Section 12.
3.
If no DTC or DTC P0500 is logged, inspect the routing of the rear wheel speed sensor harnesses.
4.
If the rear wheel speed sensor harnesses are pulled tight or strained, replace the existing rear wheel speed sensors with new sensors (part numbers
LNA 2223AB [left side] and LNA 2222AB [right side]). Follow the instructions in the Vehicle Service Manual Section 12.6.
NOTE:
The longer harness of the new speed sensor permits routing without placing any strain on the harness or sensor.
