Work in a well-ventilated area. Do not smoke, and keep sparks and open flames away.

Use caution when working near the catalytic converter to prevent the possibility of burns or fire. (The temperatures within the converter can
exceed 537 degrees C (1000 degrees F).)
-
Relieve the fuel system pressure prior to disconnecting fuel system components.
-
Disconnect the negative battery cable except for tests where battery voltage is required.
-
Use a suitable container to store or catch fuel.
-
Do not replace fuel pipe with fuel hose.
-
Plug all disconnected fuel line fittings and hoses.
-
After making any fuel system repairs ALWAYS inspect for fuel leaks.
-
When removing fuel components always clamp fuel lines approximately 1.5 in (38 mm) from the unit being removed.
-
Ensure that a supply of cloth is available to absorb any fuel spills that may occur.
-
When reconnecting electrical components, always ensure that good contact is made by the connector before installing covers.
-
Always ensure that ground connections are made to clean, bare metal, and are tightly fastened, using correct screws and washers.
-
Do not run the engine with the battery disconnected.
-
Do not use a high-speed battery charger as a starting aid.
-
When using a high-speed battery charger to charge the battery, the battery must be disconnected from the vehicle's electrical system.
