Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Description and Operation

WARNING: PRIOR TO REMOVAL OF THE AIR BAG SLIDING CONTACT AND BEFORE DISCONNECTING ANY AIR BAG SLIDING
CONTACT ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE SHOULD BE DISCONNECTED AND A PERIOD OF AT
LEAST ONE MINUTE ALLOWED TO ELAPSE.

NOTE:  The air bag sliding contact does not contain any serviceable components.

The air bag sliding contact is located on the steering column, behind the steering wheel and it transfers electrical signals from the SRS system to the
driver air bag module.
