Enclosed with each owner notification is an Owner Recall Notification Form # 83-295-0019. The involved vehicle and recall are identified on the form
for owner or dealer reference as needed.
Service Procedure
A.
Exhaust Manifold Inspection
1.
Inspect exhaust manifold for signs of cracks. Most cracks occur between cylinders # 5 and # 6. If no cracks are observed, proceed with
Step B. If cracks are observed, go to Step C.
B.
Oxygen Sensor Replacement
1.
Raise vehicle on a hoist.
2.
Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
3.
Remove oxygen sensor.
4.
Install provided oxygen sensor. Tighten to 35 ft.lbs (48 N-m).
5.
Connect oxygen sensor connector.
6.
Lower vehicle.
7.
Install the Recall Completion Label
a.
With a ball point pen, print your dealer code (5 digits) on the supplied Recall Completion Label.
b.
Peel the label from its backing and apply it near the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label located on the bulkhead.
C.
Exhaust Manifold and Oxygen Sensor Replacement
NOTE:
The intake and exhaust manifolds must be removed and installed together because the two manifolds use a common gasket
at the cylinder head.
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Remove air cleaner inlet hose from throttle plate assembly.
3.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
4.
Loosen the EGR tube nuts from the intake manifold and exhaust manifold (Figure 1).

5.
Remove throttle cable, cruise control cable (if equipped), and transmission line pressure cable (if equipped).
