Alternator Voltage Test
1.
Connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals.
2.
Start the engine and increase rpm until the voltmeter pointer remains steady. Voltage should be between 13.5 V and 15 V.
3.
Turn on as many accessories as possible within output rating (follow table) and note voltage reading again. Voltage should remain steady between
13.5 V and 15 V.

Alternator Removal
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable and alternator harness wires.
2.
Remove the alternator harness support bracket.
3.
Remove the alternator mounting bolts.
4.
Slide the alternator belt off the pulley and remove the alternator.
Alternator Installation
1.
Install the alternator.
2.
Install the alternator drive belt. [Used belt - tighten to 122-161 N-m (90-119 lbs.) or new belt - tighten to 190-215 N-m (140-161 lbs.).]
3.
Tighten the alternator pivot bolt to 38 N-m (28 ft.lbs.) torque. Tighten the adjusting bolt to 27 N-m (20 ft.lbs.) torque.
4.
Connect the alternator harness wires and the battery cable.
5.
Install the alternator harness support bracket.
