Manual transmission oil - in the transmission fill plug.

Automatic transmission fluid - on (and part of) the transmission dipstick.
^
Windshield washer fluid - in the washer reservoir.
^
Brake fluid - in the master cylinder.
^
Transfer case oil - in the rear section of the transfer case.
^
Front and rear axle oil - in the front and rear axle housing.
^
Front disc brake pads - in each inboard brake pad.
The engine, transmission, transfer case and front/rear axle oil level sensors operate on the principle of changes in resistance caused by immersion or
non-immersion in oil and are connected to the remote module.
The power steering, windshield washer, brake fluid and engine coolant sensors are float-type switches triggered by changes in fluid level and are wired
directly to the display module.
The brake pad wear sensor is also wired directly to the display module and is an electromechanical device actuated by contact with the rotor surface.
When pad wear allows sensor-torotor contact, the sensor grounds against the rotor causing a brief current surge in the pad warning circuit. The surge
blows the 4-amp, inline signal fuse causing an open circuit. The display monitor interprets the signal and triggers the red warning light.
NOTE:
The 4-amp signal fuse must be replaced along with the sensors and brake pads before the display module warning light will go off.
CHECKING FLUID LEVELS/BRAKE PAD WEAR WITH SYSTEMS SENTRY
NOTE:
To be sure of accurate results, the vehicle must be driven long enough to bring the engine and transaxle fluids up to normal operating
temperature. False readings may occur if these fluids are not at normal operating temperature.
1.
Drive the vehicle until the fluids reach the normal operating temperature.
2.
Park the vehicle on a level surface.
NOTE:
The surface must be level to ensure accurate readings.
3.
Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position and observe the display module indicator lights.

Amber lights indicate that the display module is checking all systems.
^
A green light indicates that the fluid level or pad wear is OK.
^
A red light indicates that the fluid level or pad wear should be checked.
4.
If another warning light display is desired, restart the engine, let it idle for 30 seconds and turn the ignition to the "OFF" position. The display will
reappear automatically.
