SYMPTON/CONDITION
Technical Service Bulletin # 23-56-89 was issued to resolve the rear window washer weeping problem. Since Technical bulletin # 23-56-89 was
published, a new in-line check valve has been developed for use in the repair procedure. Discard Technical Service Bulletin # 23-56-89. All diagnosis,
parts and repair procedures are being updated in this bulletin to include the latest in-line check valve.
DIAGNOSIS
When a vehicle is returned by an owner complaining of a weeping or leaking rear window washer nozzle, an underhood inspection must be made to
determine the location of the inline check valve. There are three possible conditions:
Some vehicles were built with the check valve near the washer solvent bottle in the engine compartment.
Some vehicles were built with the check valve mounted in the liftgate near the wiper motor.
Some vehicles were repaired per TSB # 23-56-89. These vehicles had the check valve located near washer solvent bottle, but now have an in-line hose
connector in place of the check valve. The check valve has been moved to the liftgate.
The rear window washer solvent weeping can be the result of in-line check valve location and/or a faulty check valve. In all cases the check valve must
be replaced with the check valve listed below and it must be installed in the liftgate as explained in the repair procedure below.
