FLOORPAN - DRIVELINE NOISE
Information
The adhesive backed hood hinge stabilizer bumpers on some 1983 CJ/Scrambler models may fall off. If this happens, the hinges can rattle against the
hinge pins causing a metallic banging noise. Because of sound travel, the noise may appear to come from the floorpan, front suspension, or driveline
components.
To eliminate the noise, install screw-on type replacement bumpers as outlined in the following procedure.
DASH PANEL
PROCEDURE
1.
Drill a 1/8-inch diameter hole at location A on both sides of the dash panel (see illustration).
2.
Apply 3M 08509 sealer or equivalent to the bumper attaching screw threads and mount the bumpers on the dash panel.
