SYMPTOM/CONDITION
If an exhaust manifold and/or manifold gasket leak condition is encountered on a Cherokee, Comanche, or Wrangler vehicle equipped with a 2.5L
engine, be advised that a new exhaust manifold and new installation procedures have been released for service.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves the installation of a redesigned exhaust manifold.
1.
Using the procedures outlined in Group 11 of the 1990 Jeep Service Manual (Publication # 81-370-0145), remove the intake and exhaust
manifolds from the engine.
2.
Clean the intake manifold and cylinder head mating surfaces.
3.
Loosely attach the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold.

Using a new intake manifold gasket, PN 53020112, position intake and exhaust manifolds on the cylinder head, and place spacers PN 33003332
over the end studs to center the exhaust manifold (see Figure 1). Install end stud nuts and washer clamps, PN 33004255, but do not tighten.
