Neutral Safety Switch: Description and Operation
This switch acts as a safety device so that voltage is not allowed to flow to the ECU unless the vehicle is in PARK or NEUTRAL otherwise the vehicle
could be started in gear.
This input switch is located on the shift lever of the automatic transmission. Its purpose is to inform the ECU when the vehicle has been shifted from
PARK or NEUTRAL into drive. This switch allows voltage to flow back to the ECU when the vehicle is in PARK or NEUTRAL, but not when the
vehicle is in DRIVE, LOW 1, or LOW 2.
