Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair

AUXILIARY AIR COOLER

Transmission Auxiliary Air Cooler

REMOVAL

1. Remove the screws attaching the grille panel to the grille face panel assembly.

2. Remove the grille panel.

3. Tag the cooler hoses (1), (2) for assembly reference.

4. Position the drain pan under the auxiliary cooler (3).

5. Loosen the clamps (4), (5) attaching the cooler hoses to the cooler fittings.

6. Slide the cooler hoses off the cooler fittings. Cover the hose ends to prevent entry of dirt.

7. Remove the screws attaching the cooler to the grille face panel and remove the cooler.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the auxiliary cooler (3) on the grille face panel and install the cooler attaching screws.

2. Remove the protective covering from the ends of the cooler hoses (1), (2) and install the hoses on the cooler fittings (4), (5).

3. Tighten the cooler hose clamps securely.

4. Position the grille panel on the grille face panel and install the grille panel anaching screws.

5. Check and correct the transmission fluid level. Refer to Fluid Level and Condition for the refill procedure.
