Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Fuel Injector Replacement
NOTE: The fuel rail assembly must be removed to service the fuel injectors. Fuel system pressure must be released prior to any service of fuel
injection components.
REMOVAL
Fuel Injector And Fuel Pressure Regulator (Typical)
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable, and remove the fuel tank filler cap.
2.
Remove the retainer clips that hold the fuel injectors onto the fuel rail.
3.
Using a rocking motion, separate the fuel injectors from the fuel rail, and discard all the old "O" rings.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install a black "O" ring seal on each injector, before installation into the fuel rail.
2.
Install each injector into its position on the fuel rail, and install the retainer clips.
3.
Install a new brown "O" ring onto the exposed end of each fuel injector, before reinstalling the fuel rail.
4.
Disconnect the negative battery cable, and remove the fuel tank filler cap.
