Throttle Body: Description and Operation
Throttle Body
Filtered air enters the intake manifold through the throttle body, which contains a throttle valve, an air bypass passage, a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS),
and an idle speed stepper motor. The throttle body is mounted to the intake manifold, and its throttle valve is controlled by the vehicle operator, via the
accelerator cable. The air bypass passage is used to control air flow at idle, and is modulated by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This throttle body
has no fuel flowing through it since fuel is injected into the intake manifold by each fuel injector mounted above each intake valve port.
