1.
Raise and fold rear seat forward to access rear sensor connectors.
2.
Disconnect sensor from harness connector.
3.
Push sensor grommets and wires through floorpan.
4.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels and brake drums.
5.
On 1990-91 models, cut tie straps securing sensor wires to axle and brake hose.
6.
On 1992 models, remove clips attaching sensor wires to brake lines on rear axles.
7.
On all models, unseat sensor support plate grommet then remove sensor to bracket attaching bolt and remove sensor by pulling wire through
grommet hole.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a.
On 1990-91 models, if sensor spacer strip is in good condition and securely attached, lightly press sensor against tone wheel and torque
attaching bolt to 11 ft. lbs.
b.
If sensor spacer strip is missing, loose or damaged and sensor contacts are exposed, wipe sensor contacts clean then set sensor air gap to
0.030-0.036 inch using a brass feeler gauge.
c.
Torque attaching bolt to 11 ft. lbs.
d.
On 1992 models, when installing old sensor ensure all cardboard is removed from sensor face.
e.
Using brass feeler gauge adjust air gap to 0.043 inch.
f.
When installing a new speed sensor, place cardboard spacer on face of sensor against tone ring.
g.
Torque attaching bolt to 6 ft. lbs. Air gap will be established as tone ring rotates and removes cardboard spacer from sensor face.
