Commander 2WD V8-4.7L Flex Fuel (2009)

1. Prior to installation, make sure all gasket mating surfaces (1, 2) are clean and free of any debris.
2. Inspect the exhaust manifold (2) for any damage See: Procedures/Exhaust Manifold - Inspection.
3. Position the exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold (2) through the front of the vehicle.
NOTE: Make sure the exhaust manifold gasket is properly seated before installing the exhaust manifold bolts/studs.
4. Start two exhaust manifold bolts/studs by hand through the wheelhouse opening.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Using the sequence shown, install the bolts/studs and tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Position the exhaust manifold heat shield, install retaining nuts and tighten the nuts to 8 Nm and then loosen 45° (71 in. Lbs., then loosen 45°).
8. Install the left exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly to the exhaust manifold flange and hand tighten bolts and nuts.
9. Position the exhaust pipe for proper clearance with the frame and underbody parts. A minimum clearance of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) is required.
